Product Description

From a chemical composition point of view, there are two pigments in safflowers:

(1) a yellow colored material that is water-soluble that could be extracted by

simple washing, and (2) a red-colored material named Carthamin that is water

insoluble and dissolves in weak basic solutions, dissolves partially in alcohols

and dissolves in very small amounts in better. The chemical composition of

the essence of the flowering aerial branches has about 0.3 percent of yellow

essence (orange). Analysis of its essence with equipment shows that this plant

has the following chemical composition: Pentadessin (*5.*8%), Hinsol (*1.*8%),

N-Hexa Decanoic acid (8.**6%), E- Nerolidol (6.*4%), Caryophyllene oxide

(3.*9%), Gamma odsmol (3.*9%), Beta Cillin (3.*0%), and E- Caryophyllene

(2.*6%)

The applications of safflower:

The safflower is one of the most important medicinal plants that has vast applications in traditional medicine and has warm and dry nature. It is interesting to know that this plant is used in the production of more than ***0 types of medicine. This proves the importance of the safflower. It also is used in cooking and is called the fake saffron. It is also used in the dyeing industry. But, it has other applications as well. For example, the petals of the

safflower have yellow and red piments (i.e. Carthamin) that are usually a food color used in medical applications. The Carthamin in this plant is the reason for the red color in the safflower that is why it is called the fake saffron. It could be a good alternative due to its proper price.
