2. The compound can be made by reacting elemental sodium with methyl alcohol.

3. Sodium Methoxide substance is a strong reducing agent and reacts violently with oxidants.

4. Sodium methylate is a White Hygroscopic powder used in a variety of organic syntheses.

5. The substance is a strong base, it reacts violently with acid and is corrosive.

6. It is also commercially produced from sodium chloride and methanol in an electrolytic process under inert gas.

Application:

1. Organic Chemistry: sodium methoxidecan be used in synthesis of several chemical compounds such as pharmaceuticals and agrichemicals;
