Introduction
Glycerol is a colorless, sweet, clear and viscous liquid. Odorless. There is a warm sweet taste. Commonly known as glycerin, it absorbs moisture from the air, as well as hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide and sulfur dioxide. Insoluble in benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, petroleum ether and oil. Relative density 1.26362. Melting point 17.8℃. Boiling point: 290.0°C (decomposition). Refractive index 1.4746. Flash point (open cup) 176℃. Acute toxicity: LD50: 31500 mg/kg (rat oral). Glycerol is the backbone component of the triglyceride molecule. When the human body ingests dietary fat, the triglycerides are metabolized and broken down in the body to form glycerol and stored in fat cells. Therefore, the end products of triglyceride metabolism are glycerol and fatty acids. Can be used as solvent, lubricant, pharmaceutical and sweetener.
Application
1. Used to make nitroglycerin, alkyd resin and epoxy resin.

2. In medicine, it is used to prepare various preparations, solvents, hygroscopic agents, antifreezes and sweeteners, and to prepare external ointments or suppositories, etc.

3. Used in the coating industry to prepare various alkyd resins, polyester resins, glycidyl ethers and epoxy resins, etc.

4. Used in the textile and printing and dyeing industries to prepare lubricants, hygroscopic agents, fabric anti-wrinkle treatment agents, diffusing agents and penetrating agents.

5. Used as a hygroscopic agent and solvent for sweeteners and tobacco agents in the food industry.

6. It is widely used in industries such as papermaking, cosmetics, tanning, photography, printing, metal processing, electrical materials and rubber.

7. And used as automobile and aircraft fuel and antifreeze in oil fields.
