Monoclinic system. Short prismatic, prismatic, thick tabular and lamellar crystals, and compact granular, massive, drusy, lamellar, crustiform, radiated, earthy of filmy aggregates. Blue and deep blue in color. Vitreous luster, with earthy luster for earthy variety. Transparent to translucent. H3.**4, p3.**3.9 g/cm3. Occurs in oxidized zone of sulfide deposits that contained copper. Accreted with malachite. The pure qualitative variety can be used as paint. Flowery blue, together with peacock-blue, peacock-green form native beauty of the crystal.
