Description

Through a Pantanal Cayman (Cayman Yacare) Raising Project developed on the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, we produce sustainable Cayman leather and meat approved by IBAMA, Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Sources. By using the ranching system, the nests are moved from the Pantanal farms to the Raising Center. The same material of the nests are used during the eggs in order to maintain the same fermentation level that is found on the wild. At the Raising Center, the eggs are placed in the incubators so the needed temperature and humidity levels are kept until their hatching. The newborns are treated, cleaned and then taken to the raising bays. The caimans are daily fed with bovine parts in a rigid quality control and distributed according to their weights. The bays are daily cleaned, a measure that prevents fungi proliferation that might damage the leather.
