Product Name: IPECOR OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION x 5 mL Pharmacological Category: Antibacterial / Corticosteroid Dosage Form: Ophthalmic Solution Availability: Available in 5mL Plastic dropper - tipped bottle Formulation: Each mL contains: Chloramphenicol ***** 5 mg Dexamethasone Na2PO4 ***** 1 mg Indications: Inflammation of the anterior uvea of the exogenous or endogenous origin. Allergic, inflammatory and infectious but not purulent forms of conjunctivitis and blepharitis. Dosage and Administration: One drop 3 - 5 times daily. In severe cases one drop every hour then reduces frequency as infections is controlled and continues for *8 hours after healing. It is instilled into the lower conjunctival sac which is accessed by gently pulling down the lower eyelid to form a pocket into which one drop is instilled. The eye should be kept closed for as long as possible after application, preferrably 1 *2 minutes or as prescribed by the physician. Contraindications: Topical corticosteroid should be used under expert supervision; one main danger associated with their use is a "RED EYE" where the diagnosis is unconfirmed, may be due to herper simplex virus and a corticosteroid may aggravate the condition, leading to corneal ulceration with possible damage to vision and even loss of the eye. Adverse Reactions: Prolonged application to the eye has caused raised intra-ocular pressure and reduced visual function. Storage Condition: Store at a temperature between 2 to 8 degrees celcius Protect from light. Discard four weeks after opening
