Description

Precision Boilers Model # HVJ****-C**5 Serial # ******3 3 mW Design pressure **5 PSI Steam Capacity *0, **0 PPH 1) This boiler was removed and gone thru by the manufacturer (Precision Boilers), to bring everything up to original specs.   2) This is an electrode boiler, it runs on *3, **0 volts 3 phase.  This is usually furnished directly from the power line thru the switchgear to the boiler.  If the *3.2 kv is available, no transformer is needed.   3) It produces steam by directly heating the water.  The water is kept to a proper conductivity during operation.  It is turned on by pumping water onto splash plates which are connected to the *3kv,  the water then becomes the heating element.  Regulation is by how much water is pumped onto the splash plates.    4)  A low water condition in this boiler is not a safety issue as it is in a gas fired boiler.  If it were to run out of water, it would just quit producing steam.   5)  It produces steam instantly.  From switch on to full operation is a matter of minutes.   6)  The electrode boiler is *9% efficient and would be **0% other than about 1% heat loss thru the shell.   7)  Gas boilers waste about *0% of the energy they use in exhaust heat.  8)  The difference in efficiencies relates to a trade even point of about $7. dekatherm of gas to about $0.*4 per kWh.  What makes the electrode boiler cost effective is the change in cost of energies.  During the winter months, it is generally cheaper to run the electrode boiler *4/7.  During the spring and fall the electrode boiler would be run during the nights where electricity is cheaper than gas.  During the three summer months, the plant would run nearly all gas as it is cheaper at this time.  (This assumes you can get at least as good a price as I got from Ga Power for their RTP rate).
