Waste plastics are sorted according to their resin identification code using a categorization method developed by the Society of the Plastics Industry. Polypropene, commonly referred to as PP, for instance, has a resin code of 5. After separating by color, the plastic recyclables are shredded into fragments and then undergo processes to eliminate impurities like paper labels and paint. The resulting fragments are what we call PP scraps which we then made available to our customers as raw materials for their own melting and extruding processes.
