Vortex AerodynamicMudflap™ Tech represents a quantum leap shift from a decades old one dimensional profile to the first purpose built ventilated mudflap!

As a one-way valve, Vortex's SmartairflowmudflapTechcapturesotherwise unwanted recirculated water and air through the air intake & exhaust ports of the flap. This not onlyreduces force drag (pressure) on the tire side of the traditional mudflap but parasitic (suction) drag that occurs on the logo side (backside) of the flap. At speed, air is trying to rush back in to fill the void the vehicle just created. Most drag occurs at the rear of the vehicle or trailer.

Dead airspace behind a vehicle or tradtional mudflap  is the root cause of drag that effects fuel economy!

UTC SimCenter and PACCAR studies show that airflow (slatted) flaps are more efficient resulting in a 1/2 to 1% fuel reduction. For the average trucker that means a $**0 - $**0 savings per year! For the environment is means 1.5 less ton of CO2 pet truck entering the atmosphere each year.

Our patented perforatedmudflapTech incorporates a series of louvered ports that fascilitates the rapid dispersion of air mixed with spray through the flap (or fender-well). Instead of one large swirl of air rushing in, the series of mini eddies (vortecies) created behind our flap produces a venturi effect. The air mixed with spray has no time to linger or recirculate in the fender and instead is channeled back to the road where it came from. With less water being carried not only is sidespray reduced but so is the weight and overall coefficient of drag.
