Joint Stock Company ŽEMAITIJOS PIENAS, one of the largest and most modern milk processing companies in Lithuania was established in ***4, in Telšiai Town, situated on seven hills and surrounded by picturesque nature. Telšiai Dairy, established in Telšiai, the capital of Samogitia, was of very high capacity at the time: it could process around 5 million tons of milk per year. However, the amount of milk purchased was around 2 million. They produced butter, cream, cottage cheese and a light alcoholic beverage of whey and milk.

Consulting with the best European and USA companies, focusing on introducing new technologies, using the most advanced membrane technology of milk purification Bactocatch allowed increasing the variety of products and improving their quality. In ***5, having inspected Žemaitijos Pienas, AB, State Food and Veterinary Service of Lithuania ascertained that the company meets the veterinary requirements and granted the State Veterinary Supervision Number LT ****1 P by the Order No.****4 “On granting the veterinary supervision number” of *0/*7/***5.

Žemaitijos Pienas has been supporting Kaltinėnai nursing home by its delicious products for *0 years and is the initiator of many social campaigns. The little second-graders are eagerly participating in the campaign “Graduate from the second grade in Telšiai and know how to swim“. Its initiator and the most generous sponsor is Žemaitijos Pienas.

Since the campaign served its purpose for a year, its organisers – Žemaitijos Pienas, Ateities Basic School, and the district minicipality – signed a trilateral agreement for the following three academic years. Žemaitijos Pienas has been the general sponsor of Žemaitės Drama Theatre for many years. The name of the company is mentioned to give thanks in many events of the district and the country.

The consumers favour the fermented and melted cheeses and non-ripened peelable cheese sticks PIK-NIK, which are one-of-the-kind in Lithuania. On 8 March a cheerful celebration of *0th anniversary of manufacturing this exceptional product was organised, where we remembered that PIK-NIK was winning awards in international and national exhibitions almost every year, and in ***1, the Baltic States Championship “Pasiplėšom ***1” was organised for the first time, where the participants were competing who will peel a peelable cheese stick into most pieces the fastest.  A Lithuanian record was set in the Championship: the longest peelable cheese stick PIK-NIK of **4.*2 meters was produced.

The consumers favour the milk, kefir, yoghurt, sour cream, cream, cottage cheese and glazed cottage cheeses, natural and seasoned butter, and many other products.  The company promotes the national culinary heritage. Homemade cottage cheese and "Žemaitiškas kastinys” (Samogitian sour cream butter) of ŽEMAITIJOS PIENAS are only made from traditional raw materials and additives according to traditional technology. Therefore, these products of exceptional taste were awarded the certificates of Lithuanian Culinary Heritage Foundation and bear the special mark of the Foundation.
