The BIO - Farm Association Jatropha Plantation aims to raise living standards for the local population and contribute to the economic
development and international profile of Benin. In partnership with  local communities, we have constructed schools and provided local
villages with access to clean running water. Approximately **0 local workers are employed on the plantation and are paid a wage *0% higher
than the national average with private healthcare cover also provided. Rather than ‘land grabbing’, we believed it was more socially responsible to lease the land from the local people rather than
purchase it, providing them with an annual income. Working very closely with the Benin Government, they are keen for projects like ours which encourage people to stay within farming communities, rather than move to the cities in search for work.
