FRAME Two-piece design made of high-grade cast steel. Both parts,
table with integrally cast uprights and crown are connected by four
hydraulically pre-stressed steel tie rods to form an extremely
rigid frame. TIE RODS The steel tie rods are designed as expansion
screw with big radii between thread and shaft. The values
concerning the chemical composition, tensile strength, apparent
yielding point and breaking elongation which are mentioned in the
supplier's works certificate are checked at our factory. SLIDE The
slide is made of high-grade cast steel. The long guides with bronze
gibs are easily adjustable. The arrangement of the guides is chosen
in such a way so that the heat expansions of the slide are almost
compensated and the guide play stays constant. SCREW NUT The screw
nut is made of high-quality tin bronze with excellent energy
running property in rotational casting method. In order to reach
the uniform transfer of the forces it is screwed into a steel
lining. This screw nut unit is mounted in the slide and connected
with to it by strong-dimensioned expansion screws. THREADED SCREW
For the threaded screw, high-alloy chrome nickel steel with high
impact value comes into use. The specified material values for the
raw part as well as the design are being carefully checked at our
factory. In order to reach an optimal screw design, various
material tests, photo elastic tests and Finite Element Method
calculations have been carried out together with different
technical universities. Positive connection between screw and

forming process the force is transmitted from the screw collar to
the crown via a spherically designed bronze thrust bearing. DRIVE
MOTOR Is a rotary current motor, designed for high switching
actuations for both rotating directions. The rotor is positively
connected with the flywheel and is actuated without intermediate
parts. The stator with the windings is mounted in a steel body,
which is connected to the press frame. The motor operation is
maintenance free due to its very simple and rugged design. We need
to be point out that the current is only used during the slide
downward- resp. upward movement. Between the single working strokes
no electrical energy is used. The cooling of the motor is done by
means of separate fan motor. FLYWHEEL BRAKE The flywheel brake
consists of four independently controlled braking units so that the
safety of the machine is guaranteed even if one unit fails. The
single braking units are designed as disk brakes and are electro-
hydraulically controlled. Braking of the flywheel and holding of
the slide by spring force acting on the brake shoes according to
the accident prevention regulations. If there is a power failure or
hydraulic pressure drop the brakes acts immediately and brake the
flywheel and slide within a very short distance. The brake linings
are made of asbestos-free, wear resistant material and can be
exchanged easily. The slide running path between switching off of
the motor and the engagement of the brake is controlled and an

lubrication of the screw bearing, the thrust bearing and of the
screw nut is done via oil recirculation lubrication. For the slide
guiding we also use oil, which acts as impulse lubrication
independence of the stroke. The lubrication process is controlled
electrically. Faults are indicated visually. At the same time
action is taken on the control and a work continuation is
