In today's Latvia similarly as in Europe, drinking water is classified in two main categories: ordinary drinking water and natural spring and mineral water. The Latvia Cabinet of Ministers' Regulations No. **5 provide for general compulsory requirements for harmlessness and quality of drinking water; it must observed by every enterprise offering drinking water in Latvia regardless of the way the water is supplied, whether in bottles, tanks or directly through the tap. These general regulations define minimum quality requirements and allow for various ways of water processing.

Natural water, which is by far most consumed in Europe, is regulated by The Latvia Cabinet of Ministers' Regulations No. *5 defining natural mineral water and spring water as a separate category and provide for additional requirements and distinctions from ordinary drinking water. Firstly, natural water is not allowed to be processed in any way. Secondly, not only the quality of the water must be certified; also the place of its taking must conform to the strongest requirements. This law protects the consumer's rights to know the quality of the chosen product, for the value of natural water is understood by everyone.

This is the largest and the only fully-automated line in the Baltic States; its production capacity is **0 bottles per hour. VENDEN production unit complies with EU standards, which is certified by LATSERT and IBWA (International Bottled Water Association) certificates. Since returnable containers are used, only the highest-quality equipment can provide absolute purity of the product.

VENDEN water production process is supervised by the Food and Veterinary Service; the production unit has its own water quality control system. VENDEN products, production processes and internal control system have received LATSERT certificates of conformity. Bottles as well as all other accessories have been attested by the National Health Agency.
