The meat in a young coconut is very soft and almost jelly-like. The coconut meat turns very hard in a mature coconut. Most users of coconut products have long been familiar with the many uses for coconut milk and coconut cream. More recently coconut virgin oil and coconut water have become more popular in developed countries.

Coconuts are one of the nutrient richest foods on the planet. They are a good source of iron, phosphorus, zinc and other minerals and vitamins. Coconuts are also a good source of protein and fiber while containing few naturally occurring sugars. According to recent scientific consensus, the saturated fats contained in coconuts are metabolized as soon as they are consumed and are not converted into cholesterol or body fat.

The presence of electrolytes in the coconuts have made coconut water a most refreshing and low calorie drink in tropical countries since time immemorial. Coconut milk is made by heating grated coconut pieces with water. Coconut milk can be converted into other products like Coconut milk powder or Virgin Coconut oil.
