Griffonia simplicifolia is a stout, woody, climbing shrub growing to about 3 m with greenish flowers and inflated black pods.
Active Constituents: *-Hydroxytryptophan, (*-HTP);Lectin i-b4.
Griffonia simplicifolia is a natural source of 5HTP ( *-Hydroxytryptophan), an enhancing amino acid that is a highly absorbable type of tryptophan and a direct precursor to serotonin. It has been used, as an adjunct to medical care, for depression and fibromyalgia.
