Because of the recent COVID-19 virus outbreak, the world goes on a panic-buying spree for surgical masks. A typical surgical mask has three layers. The first layer is a colored non-woven fabric with hydrophobic treatment to prevent droplets from going through the mask. The second layer is a melt-blown non-woven fabric that can filter out bacteria and germs due to its electret treatment. The final layer features moisture absorption, which captures saliva. Be extra careful when wearing a mask. The colored side of the mask is usually the front and should face away from you, while the white side touches your face. If a mask is worn oppositely, the moisture absorption layer will be on the front side, and it will catch droplets, bacteria, and germs.
