Nutmeg is the spice cultivated from the nutmeg tree which contains two popular spices: nutmeg and mace. Nutmeg is the inner seed, while mace is the red, lace-like substance that covers the nutmeg seed. Nutmeg is commonly used to give flavor to many kinds of baked foods, confections, puddings, potatoes, meats, and even beverages. Besides that, Nutmeg is also commercial source of an essential oil and nutmeg butter. Mace has similar flavor to nutmeg but more delicate. Indonesia is the main producer of nutmeg and mace.
