Bangladesh appeals from US for better RMG trade

According to BSS news group, Mohammad Ziauddin, the Ambassador of Bangladesh in US has raised a supporting appeal to Obama Administration to move forward and help in promoting Ready-made garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh.

During official dialogues with Ms. Grace Meng, US congresswomen, Mr. Ziauddin presented the potential of RMG sector and its dramatic impacts over the Bangladesh’s economy. The sector is also promoting the women empowerment concept across the country which is another core module for developing the economy towards Next Level.

Moreover, Ziauddin also casted light via general outlook of strong measures and programs that have been initiated by the current administration of Bangladesh under the supervision of Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister.

The ambassador of Bangladesh further enlightened certain measures implemented by the government after the tragedy of Rana Plaza that includes the improvements in institutions and legal structure, building safety measures, administrative reforms, fire and building safety actions, reporting & supervision and introducing special programs. The Rana Plaza tragedy happened last year in April, which brought heavy losses in the form of an eight-story construction contained residential and some garment factories to fall down in Savar, near the capital state!

He briefly explained the solid measures put into action by the present state’s government aiming to advance the labor safety precautions and employees’ rights situation.

On the other hand, Meng stated that the US government is constantly taking the follow ups of major developments in Bangladesh with high interest level. She also said that there should be more interactive discussions go on between the manufacturers and the employees in this sector.

Ready-made garment (RMG) is the most flourishing as well as strategic sector in Bangladeshi economy where more than 3500 factories are indulged with exporting and generating the overall 4.2 million employments across the country.
