PROPOGLICONTROL is a balanced mix of both the aqueous and alcoholic extracts of propolis from the Alecrim do campo Baccharis dracunculifolia combined with extract of Wolf Apple(Solanum lycocarpum), in order to help control glucose levels in patients diagnosed with a Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (DM2).

DIABETES MELLITUS

The word diabetes derives from the Greek term diabetes meaning siphon, which means urinating a lot - the main symptom of this disease. The term Mellitus means honey, is used because of the high
level of sugar, another characteristic of the urine of patients with this type. It is thus a chronic illness characterized by elevated levels of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. Nevertheless, the most serious aspect of diabetes is the frequent occurrence of chronic complications, such as cicatrization or loss of weight, fatigue, urinary, genital and skin infections and heightened thirst. Such complications may lead to a condition of disability and/or premature mortality. Insulin, a substance responsible for glucose metabolism, is produced by the pancreas.Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (DM2) usually originates
from malfunctioning pancreatic cells, which reduce or halt their normal production of insulin.

HOW PROPOGLICONTROL WORKS

International research has demonstrated the protective action of aqueous extract of propolis on the beta-cells of the pancreas. In ***6, MATSUSHIGUE and colaborators, demonstrated that aqueous
propolis extract in a concentration of **0 mg/kg completely shields the pancreatic cells against the effects of streptozotocin. In ***1, GRASSELI et. al. also demonstrated the regenerative activity
of Solanum lycocarpum(Lobo-fruit), in powdered form, upon pancreas cells, and especially the intense hypoglycemic action of the elements found in that fruit in patients suffering from DM 2.
