MUUNGANO ARTIST SELF HELP GROUP Def: Muungano is a Swahili word meaning togetherness/co-operation. Muungano Artist was founded in ***9 as an umbrella organization for producer artisan groups in Tabaka, Kenya. Its main objective was to market Kisii soapstone handcrafts products directly to the market for his members to avoid middlemen who were exploiting producers by paying poor prices. Muungano wanted to empower its members and the community socially and economically. The export section was in ***3 to market handcraft products for its members both local and international by improving handcraft in design quality, unifying prices of various crafts. Above all Muungano Artist support community project to improve shelter, education, health and environmental condition. Muungano work with 8 self help groups within the Kisii soapstone community. We brings together **5 individual artisans, *5 Women and *0 Men. International export destination include: U.S.A. MISSION Muungano mission is to enable the community disadvantaged artisans to improve their living standards through trade by marketing of its soapstone products, be exemplary in the community by uplifting the members especially Women for self reliance and to give hope for future generation. VISION Muungano Vision is high quality soapstone handcraft to be a leading producer and exporter organization in Tabaka community in Kenya for repeat orders. CORE VALUES Muungano Artist core values are Team work, Gender balance, fair trading, Transparency, Time conscious, Heard work and Good neighborhood. MARKET APPROACH Muungano Artist marketing approach is by soliciting market through catalogue pictures and real samples and sample production.
