Colombia, Located in Northern South America, is officially known as the Republic of Colombia and it is the 2nd most populous nation in South America. Colombia has rich deposits of minerals including coal, iron ore, nickel, gold, copper, petroleum, emeralds, natural gas and platinum. Colombia is known for growing an extraordinarily broad variety of crops. Coffee is its major crop and its price has fueled the economy of Colombia. Other grown crops are: sugarcane, oil palm, tobacco, bananas, beans, grains, cotton, potatoes and temperate-zone fruit and vegetables.
