2-Ethylanthraquinone is a light yellow solid with a melting point lower than that of anthraquinone. It is soluble in benzene and can be recrystallized with ethanol or acetic acid.
2-Ethylanthraquinone is used to prepare hydrogen peroxide and as a dye intermediate. It is also used as a photosensitizer for photosensitive resins, photocurable resin catalysts, photodegradable films, coatings and photopolymerization initiators.
