Properties
Dipotassium phosphate anhydrous occurs as white crystals or amorphous powder. It is anhydrous or contains three molecules of water of hydration. It is hydroscopic that is deliquescent when exposed to moist air. It is sparingly soluble in alcohol but readily soluble in water. Its water solution is alkaline and pH of a 1% solution is about 9.
Applications
Boiler water treatment; Bacteria culture medium; Raw material for production of potassium pyrophosphate; Corrosion inhibitor in glycol antifreeze fluid; Raw material for liquid fertilizer. Feed additives. In foodstuff industry it is used as/to buffer, sequestrant, yeast food, swelling agent, moderate alkalinity for milk products and flavoring agent. P and K regulator in pharmaceutical industry and fermentation.
