Palm Kernel Expeller/ Cake (PKE/ PKC) is obtained from the kernel after the oil has been extracted.There has 2 method of extraction process: by screw pressing and solvent extraction.The production of Palm Kernel Expeller involves the grinding of the palm kernel followed by screw processing with or without intermediary flaking or cooking stage. It is commonly used as animal feed for dairy cattle, poultry, sheep, swine and aquaculture because of its high protein content. Or else, it is usually treated as biomass to fuel up boilers to generate electricity for use at palm oil mills and surrounding villages. Malaysia has been the world largest producer and exporter of PKE in the recent past.
