IL**7C is a member of the IL**7 family, which is comprised of six proteins (IL**7A through IL**7F). IL**7 proteins are pro-inflammatory cytokines that induce local cytokine production and are involved in the regulation of immune functions. IL**7C has been reported to stimulate the release of TNF-α and IL*1β from the monocytic cell line THP*1. IL**7C shares *5% to *0% amino acid sequence identity with the other IL**7 family members. Mouse and human IL**7C share *3% amino acid sequence identity. Mouse IL**7C cDNA encodes a **4 amino acid protein with a putative *4 amino acid signal peptide. The recombinant mouse IL**7C is a disulfide-linked homodimer composed of a *0.2 kDa monomeric subunit.
