Belonging to lythraceae family, the pomegranate is a fruit with a slightly sour and sometimes sweet taste, consisted of the innumerable grains forming the body of the body of the fruit, specific to temperate climates. 
 
The pomegranate resist drought and grows in such regions specific to Mediterranean climates with rainy winters and summers.  They suffer from the root rottenness attributed to the fungi diseases when cultivated in more rainy regions.  It can resist to the cold weather down to **0°C.
 
Known as being cultivated  since several thousand years in Mediterranean region, it is considered as being first appeared in Iran region.  Turkey ranks third in the pomegranate production after Iran and India.
